Bio

Dr. Nicole E. Lorenzo received her Ph.D. in Clinical Science at Florida International University in 2019. Dr. Lorenzo is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychology and is affiliated with the Maryland ADHD Program.

Dr. Lorenzo’s research focuses on early intervention and the relation between parenting (including parenting practices and parental psychopathology) on early childhood social-emotional and behavioral problems. The goal of her research is to aid in the early identification of children at risk for developing psychopathology, with the ultimate goal of informing targeted early intervention efforts for families in underserved and low-resourced communities. Dr. Lorenzo is currently collaborating with Dr. Andrea Chronis-Tuscano and Dr. Christina Danko on the Treating Parents with ADHD and their Children Study (TPAC). This NIH-funded hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial aims to compare the effectiveness of two treatment strategies for families with ADHD. Dr. Lorenzo was recently awarded an NIMH diversity supplement to expand the aims of the study to focus on parents of toddlers. She is particularly interested in adapting behavioral parenting interventions for parents of infant and toddlers from ethnic and racial minority backgrounds.
